Heaton Village Gala

This annual event is being held at Heaton St. Barnabas C. of E. Primary School on 19^th June 2010. We are representing our Toddler Group at the gala again this year and intend to set up our ‘Messy Play Stall’. It will be great if you come along to give your support-hopefully we can recruit more new members to our group! It should be an enjoyable family day out.

NSPCC sponsored ‘Pedal Push’

We would like to raise funds for the NSPCC again this year by holding our annual Pedal Push. We’d love to repeat last years success. We will hold our Pedal push on 30^th June and 2^nd July- hopefully the weather will be dry and we can set up the course on the path around the building again! The money raised from Pedal Push will go to the Child’s Voice Appeal.

Christmas Party

We are having our Christmas Party on Wednesday 16^th December 2009. We are hoping that members from our Friday Group will be able to attend on this day too- please do try. We’ll organise party food and games for this occasion. We have also booked a Bouncy Castle for the childrens entertainment. We ask that you provide a gift wrapped and named Christmas present for your child on this day (perhaps around £5.00 in value). We will collect these in at the beginning of the session and are hoping that Santa will be able to come along and give these presents out to the children. Please don’t forget- we don’t want any children to be left out. If anyone has any ideas to make our party more fun, please share them.

Grant application

We have been very lucky & had recent success with a grant application to help us with our move to these new premises; to expand our membership, help towards our rent and to provide much needed resources. We are now able to start spending this money and are very excited about the very positive impact we know this will have on our group. We still need to attract new members, so please come along & join us and let other parents or carers know about us.

NSPCC Sponsored Pedal Push

On 24th & 26th June 2009 our toddler group took part in a sponsored ‘Pedal Push’ to help raise funds for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. This was a fun way for our children to learn about helping other children and it was a great success. The children loved riding or being pushed around the hall on their trikes and they received a medal, sticker & certificate for taking part. We managed to raise £250.73 for this charity and we hope to hold another ’Pedal Push’ next year.

Safety and hot drinks

Following CAPT. ‘Hot Drinks Burn Campaign’ we have joined other Toddler Groups across the district & signed up to becoming a ‘hot drink safety centre’ by providing a separate area to serve and consume hot drinks away from children. We ask all members to keep hot drinks in a designated area whilst the children are sat at the table with their snacks; never walk around with hot drinks, or set them down within reach of children.

Voluntary help needed

Our group is looking for regular volunteers from the local community to help prepare refreshments at snack time and wash up afterwards. This will free up parents & carers so we can devote more time to join in with our childrens play and activities. If anybody is interested or knows someone who will be able to take on this role we would be very happy to hear from you!
